CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE IS A CRIME
The appropriate people to contact are the Police. If you or anyone you know has been abused, please contact the police. WORKING WITH CHIILDREN CHECKS AND REQUIRED TRAINING

You need a valid Working With Children Check and to complete the Child Protection/ Safeguarding training required the Archdiocese of Sydney once every three years) if you are one or more of the following at St Anthonys.

  • Parish Secretary
    • Youth Minister, Worker or Leader
    • Pastoral Associate
    • Sacramental Coordinator
    • Sacramental Group Leader
    • Catechist in a State School
    • Children’s Liturgy Coordinator
    • Children’s Choir Ministry Leader
    • Acolyte / Senior Altar Server
    • Eucharistic Minister

TRAINING APPROVED/REQUIRED BY THE ARCHDIOCESE OF SYDNEY

The Safeguarding training Archdiocese offers 3 modules of training for staff and volunteers (which should be done in the order below);

  1. Induction (recognising abuse, how to safeguard, archdiocesan policies/codes)
  2. Refresher (bullying, reportable conduct, raising concerns)
  3. Education (understanding trauma and its impact, supporting people suffering from trauma)

There is also specialised training for Youth Ministry Team Leaders.

We are offering an in-person Induction training session at St Anthonys starting at 3.30 pm for new volunteers on Sunday, 8 December 2024.
This training will be followed by training in the other 2 modules.

  • If you are registering for the Refresher module – please ensure you select the training for VOLUNTEERS as training for staff is different.
